HEY THERE
I am Mirela Christescu, chocolate-addicted and an occasional painter, living in wonderful Switzerland. I sketch my ideas on paper and I don’t always have enough pencils and sharpies. Work aside, you can find me exploring cities and observing buildings, playing with my kids, or taking long walks in nature. I also love crafting kids toys and games every now and then.
MY PROCESS
involves putting the users first and their needs, in each iterative phase, to create functional and affordable solutions that are addressing real problems. I also bridge between business, design and technology. Using design thinking methods, I help startups and businesses to innovate and find viable strategies to develop their products and services. The end designs are not only beautiful branded artifacts but are also easy to use, equitable, useful, meaningful and have a positive emotional impact on the customers that interact with them.
As for my previous projects, I worked from the early stages (starting with research, confirming hypotheses and developing MVPs/ Wizard of Oz) to the last stages (interactive prototyping and testing). Making decisions is part of the design process and I support each decision with quantitative and/or qualitative data, besides consulting best practices from the UX Field.
With a Bachelor in Visual Arts and masterclasses for film animation and multimedia, my prior experience is as a visual designer and web publisher in different projects, either as a team member in design agencies or as a freelancer. Over the years I realized that what matters most in my work is not just finding creative ideas to be implemented but to create the right design and to simplify processes for the given context, in order to delight and/ or remove the friction and frustration, to impact the business and customers.
Inspired by artists and designers, who are daring and innovating products and impact their communities, I've followed the courses for Interaction Design and User Experience Program from the University of California San Diego and UX Design Program from Google. It is my personal challenge to find ways to improve the lives of others moment by moment in an ethical manner.
